SERMI: documents for Volvo security-related work
VW Retrofit holds a valid SERMI certificate. SERMI is the scheme for access to security-related vehicle repair and maintenance information.
For the vehicle brands we service in the UK, SERMI currently applies to relevant Volvo security-related work. It is not the access scheme currently used for our Volkswagen Group or Mercedes-Benz work in the UK.
When a Volvo job requires SERMI access, we must verify the customer, vehicle and authority to request the work, and collect and retain the required job documentation. Not every Volvo diagnostic visit requires this process. We will confirm whether it applies when arranging your appointment.
What to bring to your appointment
For work requiring SERMI verification, please be ready to provide:
- Customer identification: valid photo ID and the customer details requested when booking.
- Vehicle details: the VIN and vehicle registration document (V5C).
- Authorisation: any additional documents we request if you are arranging work on behalf of the owner or a company.
- Job and component information: details of the requested coding or replacement, and information about customer-supplied components where applicable.
We will confirm the exact documents needed for your particular job before the visit. If anything is missing or unclear, contact us in advance; work requiring verification cannot proceed until the necessary checks are complete.
How we handle the documentation
The required information is collected and retained for the verification and job-record process. Please see our Privacy Policy for information about personal data. Do not send copies of ID documents through the enquiry form unless we have specifically arranged how they should be provided.
