What is SERMI?
Security-related Vehicle Repair and Maintenance Information.
SERMI was created over twenty years ago to develop, operate and maintain a scheme and process to allow independent operators to have access to security-related vehicle information.
SERMI approve and authorise independent garages to have the same level of access as that of a vehicle manufacturer’s to enable processes such as programming keys and unlocking immobilisers.

SERMI is managed jointly by vehicle manufacturers, represented by ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association) and independent operators (independent Garages). As stakeholders they are primarily involved in the process of providing or obtaining access to security related repair and maintenance information (RMI).

SERMI now operates in the UK with standardised access to security-related RMI. However, this access is contingent upon adherence to stringent security standards and certifications. Independent workshops and their employees must be approved and authorised based on specific documentation and requirements.
